Please see the note below regarding a new option available for clergy to
pay their contribution to the Ministers' Transition Fund if they are
enrolled. This option allows the contribution to be withheld on an
after-tax basis from payroll and included on the monthly pension bill
sent to the church. Let us know if you have questions.

Here's the blurb regarding the new MTF billing option. Please pass it
along to the Local Church Treasurer's listserv. Thanks!!

NEW Ministers' Transition Fund Billing Option

Effective January 1, 2009, those clergypersons who are enrolled in the
Ministers' Transition Fund (MTF) and are under active appointment to a
local church or an extension ministry have a NEW option to make their
annual contribution payment. Members may choose to have their annual
contribution divided into equal monthly payments, withheld from their
salary on an after-tax basis, and included on their monthly pension bill
from the NC Conference. The Conference Board of Pensions, which
administers this fund, hopes this billing option will ease the burden of
making a lump sum annual payment. To sign up for this billing option,
visit the Pensions Page <http://www.nccumc.org/treasurer/pensions.htm>
on the Treasurer's Office Web site or contact JoAnna Cafferty
(1-800-849-4433 ext. 225). In order for this option to be effective in
January 2009, enrollment forms must be completed and submitted no later
than December 15th so that the January pension bill to the church will
be correct.
