We have received bids of $4,500 to do our audit. Our annual budget is a little less than $80,000 per year for all income - with half of this going to our apportionment. Is there a way that the conference could contract with a single firm to do audits for 10 small churches, and in that way get the price per church in a more affordable rage like, $1,500 for an audit? Or are there other possible solutions? ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... This year the audit was just practice so that the church members who did the audit would have some experience performing an audit. I also served in a training capacity but did not do any actual work on the audit. Another suggestion would be to have treasurers audit each others churches unless that would be a conflict of interest. ----- Original Message ----- From: XPDunn at aol.com To: lcfinance at listserv.nccumc.org Sent: Sat, 6 Oct 2007 01:45:18 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [LCFinance] Small church and ways to afford an audit Our small church is challenged with our ability to afford an audit by a CPA or someone who feel qualified to conduct our audit. In fact, our firm encourages this as opposed to the full audit. Our church as adopted a comprehensive policy manual that addresses all issues in the church, including financial. Our Committee on Finance has opted to have the Review of Internal Controls done for a number of years. It seems more practical and saves significant church expense. ----- Original Message ----- From: XPDunn at aol.com To: lcfinance at listserv.nccumc.org Sent: Saturday, October 6, 2007 1:45:18 AM (GMT-0500) America/New_York Subject: [LCFinance] Small church and ways to afford an audit Our small church is challenged with our ability to afford an audit by a CPA or someone who feel qualified to conduct our audit. They said they already do them as cheap as they can because it is for a church. I think others' suggestions for possible partnerships with near by churches to trade off audit help may be the way to help cut costs.
